The Lister’s Fest: A Shining and Shimmering Event

October 18th, 2005

Halegeb_2    Now cut with the crappy title. hehe. The Hale’s Lister’s Night last night at the Aliw Theater was indeed one Hale of a night! It’s a pity that I was unable to take clear and close-up photos. T_T huhuhu pengeng digi-cam!

Guest bands Sando, Five Leaves Left, Subtle, and Mayonnaise warmed up the crowds until 11 p.m.! And I thought the entire show would’ve ended by then, since the tickets said that the gates open at around six. The program actually started at around 8:30 pm. After the extremely long (but entertaining) introduction, came the stars of the night. Champ, Omnie, Roll, and Sheldon made their grand entrances and, of course, you know what they did next.  They sang songs from their album, including (one of my favorites!) Life Support, a song that they do not usually sing at their  gigs. The crowd (myself included) was really surprised when Sheldon sang along with Champ and Roll in that song. Hahaha… Si Mang Pepe talaga oh. After that we were all chanting, "Sheldon! Sheldon! Sheldon!" to get him to sing again, but, alas, he shy-ed away again.

Hale also did a wonderful performance of Coldplay’s Trouble and Fix You. I especially loved the latter song, it’s one of my favorites. I think that their version is just as good as Coldplay’s original. Other notable performances include their version of Bamboo’s Hallelujah and Masaya. Champ was so funny… He hasn’t memorized the lyrics so he was constantly asking Roll for what goes next. He also did the same as he sang a portion of an original piece they’re experimenting on, and Dashboard Confessional’s Screaming Infidelities. Nakakatuwa talaga. All throughout the night, Champ showed just how charming and makulit he was.

There were also games and raffles. Sadly, I and my ticket no. 00002 wasn’t  picked. T_T

Oh well, atleast I got to seat near the stage, just behind the VIP reserved rows. AtChinongit_1least I got to wave at Sheldon, and have Champ smile at me (wehh). Atleast I have a Hale shirt now (woohoo!), and got to see Chino and Darryl (Champ’s brother who starred in "Kahit Pa" and Champ’s cousin, respectively) in person. Chino was kind of masungit, though.  I thought he was as friendly as his Kuya. (I don’t want to generalize, though. Maybe he was just busy and serious in the shirt-selling business, hehe) Hmm. Oh well.

Aliw theater had imposed a deadline, though. So Hale had to wrap it up at around 1 am. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. I can’t wait to go to Hale again.

Yess! I just submitted my final paper for Psych this afternoon. I’m now totally free from school!!! Funny how excited and enthusiastic you are during the first week of classes, but how you dreadfully long to escape during the last few days (or weeks, even.lol).

[Depressive]

Boy, this semester had proved quite dreadful to me. And it’s because of these two subjects: Psych 101 and Film 100. Me and Psych 101 should have gotten along well, were it not for the fact that I’m extremely bad at time management, thus making me late for each class, thus making me miss five out of seven–yes, five out of seven–quizzes. (See my recent rant about this.) It’s a really good thing that my professor’s really really considerate, letting me pass a final paper to make up. And I hope that really does compensate. *sighs*

Anyway, for Film 100, which I took because I was planning to shift to Film & Audio-Visual Communication (take note: ‘was’. I’m planning to write another post about this soon.), I just simply cannot take the environment. The whole room was cold–both literally and figuratively–towards me. I know I’m not friendly, and I seldom initiate conversations, but somehow I always end up having atleast someone to talk to at each class. But this class was different. It’s like being in a whole new world (hey that’s a song, lalala..) with people who already know each other (as they’re all from the same college, I was the only CSSP student to get lost there). Woe is me. *sighs*

Ack. Atleast all that is a thing of the past. Just as dear ‘ol Champoy says (or rather, sings): There’s a blue sky waiting tomorrow.  Hmm… Speaking of Champ….

Oh. My. Gosh. 5 more days to go. Five. More. Days!!!! *imitates Spongebob’s voice* I’m ready… I’m ready… I’m ready…! Waaaaah!!! I’m soooo excited!!! (As if I needed to say that.) Now, I know, I’m talking nonsense once again. Okay, calm down, Lorraine. *inHALEs deeply* *goes hysteric again at the aforementioned thought* *takes more deep breaths and slaps herself silly* W-W-Where was I? *shakes head* Oh… I was talking about how excited I was am at the coming Hale Lister’s Party this Monday, October 17…. I’ve only met the band once before, so you could just imagine how much I want to see them again. Weeee… yaaay… hahaha… I need to finish this post now, my insanity (and bangag-ness) is starting to attack again…

Edit: (10/16/2005) Wow. I got to see the band perform last night at Alabang Town Center. It was terrific. They sang almost all the songs from their album (all except "Wishing" and "Life Support") and even sang two songs from Coldplay, including my favorite, "Fix You"! Waaaah… Champ and Roll sang the song so well, I was just awestruck. Can’t wait till tomorrow!!!!
