SFC!

July 28th, 2007

[I composed the following entry a couple of weeks ago, only I saved it in my cellphone and didn't bother to post it online until now. =_=]

Rain poured heavily the whole afternoon.

"Even the weather reflects my mood. just like in drama movies," I mused, as I was riding a jeepney on my way home. I had just heard fom the Office of Student Affairs that they were no longer accepting applications for organization recognition, save for those few who had sent in letters of appeal. I had failed to do such, being uninformed, and thus our application ended in failure. Which didn’t really shock me actually, since for a long period of time I was not able to completely retrieve the data required from each of our members. I believe that if I had not been so complacent, I would have encouraged each and every one to cooperate. Instead, I felt so at ease, so unenthusiastic even, that the situation got out of hand. My false sense of security must have stemmed from the fact that I usually get what I want.

During my quest for college I applied only to two universities - UP and Others (Kidding! I meant DLSU-Manila.) I’m no genius but I managed to be accepted by both schools. When I applied for shifting, I was among the seven out of fifty-two applicants to pass. I applied for part-time work as a tutor once, and yet my employer whom I heard was quite picky, hired me right away. Now, forgive me if I seem to be boasting now, but what I’m really trying to point out is that I have always been so blessed to be given all these favorable happenings that I’ve sort of grown accustomed to them. Now, however, I must face defeat. Because of my irresponsibility, an entire organization’s progress would be impeded. I had such high hopes for UP-SFC, yet I myself seem to have shattered these hopes.

Anyway, I do know that it’s no use crying over spilled milk. There’s still a lot more things we can do as an organization - for one, we can build on our relationships. Strong relationships coupled with passion/active participation equals to a solid organization. It’s also great to be reminded that we’re working not for our own glory, but for God’s. We’re Students for Christ! Let us stand up to that name!

P.S.: I have recently lauched UP-SFC’s website. Check it out at http://upsfc.co.nr .
